Attending the Expo: Networking and More

Be ready to engage—expos like COMP2025 are welcoming spaces for meaningful business conversations. Ask questions, spark dialogue with exhibitors, and approach the event with a clear strategy. It’s a prime opportunity to grow your network and gain valuable insights into Colorado’s manufacturing industry.

Determine Your Professional Needs or Interests: Before stepping onto the expo floor, clarify your objectives. Are you seeking new suppliers, potential collaborations, career opportunities, or insights into specific technologies? Knowing your goals will guide your interactions.

Identify Your Prospects: Pinpoint specific companies or individuals whose work aligns with your interests and prioritize visiting their booths or attending their sessions.

Prepare Your Elevator Pitch: Craft a concise and compelling introduction (typically 30-60 seconds) that highlights who you are, what you do, and what you’re looking for. Practice it until it feels natural.

Explore the Event: Don’t just stick to one area. Walk the entire expo floor to discover unexpected opportunities, new technologies, and companies you might not have initially identified.

Find Speakers or Workshops: Check the event schedule for speaker presentations, workshops, or panel discussions relevant to your interests. These sessions are excellent for learning and often provide opportunities to ask questions and connect with presenters, industry experts and fellow peers.

Share Contact Information: Always be ready to exchange business cards. Consider using digital methods or apps for easy sharing and note-taking to remember key details about your new connections.

Enjoy Your Time: While strategic, networking should also be enjoyable. Be open, friendly, and authentic in your interactions. A positive and relaxed demeanor can make a lasting impression.

Plan Any Before/After Events or Activities: Consider inviting key customers or strategic partners to join you at pre-expo receptions, happy hours (like the one at COMP2025), or post-expo dinners or gatherings. These relaxed settings often spark deeper, more meaningful conversations and connections.

After the Expo: Follow Up

The connections you make at COMP2025 are just the beginning. Effective follow-up is crucial for converting new contacts into valuable business relationships and maximizing your return on investment from the expo.

Make Contact via Email or Phone: Prioritize sending personalized follow-up emails within 24-48 hours of the expo. Reference specific conversations you had and reiterate your interest. For warmer leads, a follow-up phone call can reinforce the connection.

Leverage CRM: Utilize your Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to organize all new contacts and notes gathered at the expo. Input details about your interactions, discussed needs, and agreed-upon next steps to ensure no lead falls through the cracks.

Organize Meetings: Propose specific next steps, such as a brief virtual meeting or a coffee chat, to delve deeper into potential collaborations or address specific challenges. Tailor these meeting requests to the individual’s interests and needs identified during your expo interaction.

Advance Qualified Leads: For qualified leads, transition promptly into your sales process. Remember that the expo provided an initial warm introduction; now is the time to deliver on your value proposition and demonstrate how your solutions can meet their requirements.
